European Championship

Meldrum & Daviot were once again represented at the championship for Scotland, the last was John Penny & Scott Macleod playing with David Edwards and Billy Morton. This time it was Rebecca Morrison, as ladies Skip of the team Scotland. This time we have a member coming home with a medal! Rebecca skipped her team to bronze, and in doing so qualified Scotland for the World Championship. Massive congratulations to team Scotland on this achievement.

Dewars u21 Slam result.

Team Smith, Tamzin Smith (Skip) competed at Dewars Ice Rink in Perth. The girls made the semi-finals of the Girls section, but lost the semi-finals, competing in the 3/4 playoff after, this sadly went the same way and Team Smith finished 4th overall at this u21 slam. Congratulations girls, this gives you something to build on for the remainder of the season.

 Mounie Trophy

Simon has sent a message that Meldrum & Daviot didn't retain the trophy. losing the bragging rights against Markinch for a year.

Opening Bonspiel

Congratulations to Lewis Stephen, Rory Byers, Rowan Craik & Mike Raeburn on winning the opening bonspiel on the 2nd October at Curl Aberdeen with a score of +6 shots

Thats our season up and running now with the James Bissett starting on Thursday followed by the League starting on Sunday.

 

M&D member Skips her way to International Victory

 Rebecca Morrison, skipped her Team GB Red - Mili Smith, Jen Dodds & Lauren Gray to victory against a strong Swedish outfit. Congratulations to wee Rebecca. The next tournament she plays will be in Russia when her 9 person squad gets rotated.

Planning for the new season

The committee have been in regular contact over the summer via zoom calls in order to be organised for when we start up at the end of September. Teams have been drawn for the League, the Doubles and Club Bonpsiel and the booklet is just waiting on Ice Allocation to be confirmed, before making its way to our members.

If you haven't already seen Scottish Curling email about their COVID-19 return to curling document I have attached the link to follow, the information is on the Scottish Curling Website. For those who tuned into the Curl Aberdeen AGM, they are adapting by putting another entrance into the Ice Hall, making it a one way system in and out the Ice Hall.

Mounie Trophy

I think its safe to say on the 5oth Anniversary of the association of M&D and Markinch, we did not come away with the trophy again this year. I don't have the results to hand but I don't think we had a W in the three games played.
